Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Australia Prepares A Bouncy Pitch for the Perth Test
For the 1st test to be played of Border-Gavaskar Trophy on 22nd Nov, Australia prepares a bouncy and pace wicket for Perth test.

Border-Gavaskar Trophy lead-up is in progress, and the action towards the first Test between India and Australia is getting hot. This test is to be played in Perth on November 22. Indians have been in great form in the last few editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Since the last Australian victory, they have managed to win the trophy twice in Australia. This new series is going to begin with the first Test in Perth, which the Indian team has already reached in preparation.

India and Australia are set to play their third one-off Test in 90 days, and there are less than 10 days to go for the match. Just ahead of the scheduled test match, Western Australia Cricket Chief Curator Isaac MacDonald has revealed that the pitch in Perth is going to be tailor-made for pace and bounce.

MacDonald emphasized that it is about creating the conditions that have characteristically affected Perth’s conditions. “This is Australia, this is Perth. I’m preparing the pitch for really good pace, really good bounce, and really good carry,” MacDonald was quoted in an interview.
It remains to be seen whether the Perth pitch, which became a talking point during the series against the West Indies, when it performed even lifelessly, comes up with a pace and bounce in the Pak series against MacDonald but surely looks for conditions that will test both teams through BGT on the horizon.

The West Australian reports that apart from the pitch preparation, the WACA Stadium has been put into lockdown-like mode as it was during the start of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Nets are lined along the boundary, and there is restricted access to the stadium; workers can’t bring their phones with them. Such extreme measures of security and preparation speak to the significance of this Test, meaning every ounce of effort is being made to ensure that the contest will be competitive and exciting.

Both teams are going to lock horns in what promises to be a fiery contest, so the Perth Test is therefore going to provide a real test of skills, more so because pace and bounce seem likely to determine the outcome.
