Can Women’s Wrestling Make Money?
It is often believed that the Men’s wrestling makes more money and the women are not given enough importance in wrestling in WWE today.
We can’t allow the joy of the bar discussion to go to the ball sports. They want to know who the most outstanding quarterback is, which NBA club is the best and if players from the steroid era should be admitted to the Hall of Fame. The best discussions in wrestling also have their fascinating questions. The most ardent, knowledgeable, and opinionated people you will ever meet are wrestling fans. These discussions could go on well into the night and get physical.
Everybody has a different perception of what the good old days were like. Some people will claim that the best wrestling was done in the 1950s or the 1980s, depending on their age and personal preferences. The Attitude Era is the beginning and the end of wrestling, fans.
You might eventually become silent in your disagreements on the actual golden age. Old-school aficionados cite Bruno Sammartino’s era of selling out Madison Square Garden as an example. Those who believe the Attitude Era was the best period in history cite the record crowds that the Rock vs. Stone Cold attracted. How about 2002-2007? It was difficult to top pay-per-view matches with The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Benoit. When did the best games, prominent stars, and entertaining moments occur?
Will Women’s Wrestling Ever Be Profitable?
The WWE’s present offering is far from its pinnacle. And when I say that I mean that it has been terrible, with the 3 hours of Raw being the main offender. And throughout those three hours, the women’s tag division consistently has the worst scheduling, the worst finishers and the least meaningful events.
Carmella recently appeared on the Bella Twins podcast, where the three discussed their dissatisfaction with the company. Brie Bella said that the company is close to another hashtag trend, #GiveWomenAChance, referring to the GiveDivasAChance hashtag that brought about some change in the company.
WWE seems to have convinced itself that the female element of wrestling is only helpful for sex appeal and eye candy. In the 1930s, women had to persuade men that they belonged in the ring. Many male spectators laughed at the idea of a female wrestler. Has there indeed been that much of a change? Women have yet to receive main-event status, with the slightest exception. They have been viewed as a novelty and a time waster at worst. Women-only promotions have appeared over time, only to fall apart due to our indifference.
