Team of Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabia National Football team is often recognised by the name, “Al-Suqour Al-Akhdhar”, which means the Green Falcons. The Green Falcons represent Saudi Arabia in men’s International Football. As per reports, Saudi Arabia have managed to register the AFC Asian Cup three times to their names (1984, 1988 and 1996).

They successfully reached a joint record of Asian Cup finals and have further qualified for the FIFA World Cup for six times since their debut at the tournament of 1994. However, the Green Falcons is said to have undergone a drastic change since their appearance at Russia 2018, with a new coaching team and numerous young and new players having broken into the side.

They are considered as the first Asian team to reach the final of a senior FIFA competition during the 1992 King Fahd Cup, which later became the FIFA Confederations Cup. Moreover, despite knocking out the AFC heavyweights, Japan and Australia in the course of a relatively straightforward qualification campaign, the team has managed to showcase their potential and is expected to perform well in the upcoming tournament.

During the World Cup of 1994, Saudi Arabia managed to win over both Belgium and Morocco in the group stage. Also, they successfully came to be known as the second Arab team in history to reach the round of 16 of a World Cup, as well as one of the few Asian national football teams to accomplish such a feat to date. Moreover, the team is said to be one of Asia’s most successful national teams. The team is, however, expected to give a tough competition to other competitors, thereby setting up an interesting match.
