After a very strong performance against a young West Indies side, the Indian team went on with their strong showing to win the T20I series 3-0 against another old rival, Sri Lanka. These continuous series wins are a strong indication of the team being in good form; a good thing as they look to prepare the best possible team ahead of the ICC T20I World Cup that begins in October this year.
However there is no such thing called perfection. Here are the strengths and weaknesses of the Indian team:
Strength:
– Indian team has made a team of very talented players thanks to the IPL and a very organized calendar of domestic tournaments. Right now, there are a lot of strong contenders for the opening slot. There is Rahul, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and captain Rohit Sharma himself while good openers like Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill and Devdutt Padikkal are waiting.
For bowling team India has Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan, and Prasidh Krishna and for batting Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, to name a few.
Weakness:
India is weak in terms of fielding. Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Kohli are some of the finest fielders but it still needs improvements in fielding.
Another weak point is the death overs where too many loose deliveries are being bowled. India has struggled to contain the flow of runs in the death.
