India’s women’s hockey team starts the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy with a dominant 7-1 win over Thailand, showcasing their strong performance.

The Indian women’s hockey team began their campaign in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy with a resounding victory, defeating Thailand 7-1 in their tournament opener on Friday.
Sangita Kumari led the scoring with a hat-trick in the 29th, 45th, and 46th minutes, while Monika (7’), Salima Tete (15’), Deepika (40’), and Lalremsiami (52’) also contributed goals for India. Thailand’s Supansa Samanso (22′) scored their sole goal.
India started the match aggressively, coming close to an early goal when Lalremsiami narrowly missed the target with a no-look reverse shot. Just a minute later, Monika (7′) secured a goal with a powerful shot, giving India an early lead.

India maintained the pressure on Thailand, earning two penalty corners in quick succession. Salima Tete (15′) capitalized on the second one, directing the ball into the goal after a deflection by Thailand’s goalkeeper. The first quarter ended with India leading 2-0.

Thailand launched a comeback attempt in the second quarter, successfully scoring a goal through Supansa Samanso (22′) from a penalty corner, narrowing the deficit.
India responded swiftly, extending their lead as Sangita Kumari (29′) found the net after a deflection by Thailand’s goalkeeper.
The second quarter ended with India ahead 3-1.
In the third quarter, India continued to press forward, putting pressure on Thailand and creating scoring opportunities. Deepika (40′) skillfully found the back of the net after receiving a precise pass from Vandana Katariya, further extending India’s lead.
India’s relentless offense continued to pay off as Sangita Kumari (45′, 46′) quickly scored two more field goals within a minute, completing her hat-trick and giving India a 6-1 lead by the end of the third quarter.
The excitement didn’t end there, as Lalremsiami (52′) scored in the fourth and final quarter, sealing India’s impressive 7-1 victory over Thailand.
India’s next match in the tournament will be against Malaysia on Saturday evening.
