Indian Cricket Players Salary List 2023 – BCCI Grading System for Men and Women Cricket

The salary of the cricket players whether men or women is given based on the performance of the players. The points are given as per the grading system of the BCCI and the cricketers are ranked as per the same. There are 4 grading scales for Men, whereas there are only 3 scales for the grading women cricketers.
A cricketer not only earns money through the salary that is given by BCCI but also through other means like getting advertisements, acquiring sponsors, playing League based matches like IPL, BBL etc., having own brands and even becoming a brand ambassador. Some cricketers in India have gained a high amount of money from engagement in such events over time. Virat Kohli is one of the richest players.
The qualification for the BCCI contract for the cricketers is as follows:
- A+ Category – Player is capable enough to play all three formats.
- A Category – All three formats or at least 2 formats (Test cricket format’s knowledge is compulsory)
- B Category – Capability of the player to play in any two formats
- C Category – Single format player
BCCI Grading System for Men
BCCI takes the responsibility of paying all players (men and women) who are playing on the Domestic and International level both.
The salary of an international cricketer is:
- Grade A: 50 Lakhs INR
- Grade B: 30 Lakhs INR
- Grade C: 10 Lakhs INR
The salary of a domestic cricketer is:
- Seniors who have played over 40 matches: 60,000 INR.
- Players for – Under 23: 25,000 INR
- Players for – Under 19: 20,000 INR
BCCI Grading System for Women:
BCCI managed to understand the difference in the salaries and the gap of payment between Indian Male and Females cricketers. This made the organization make big changes in its existing systems. BCCI has now increased the salary of the female cricketers. The salary is almost made double from what was being given earlier.
The salary of an international female cricketer:
- Grade A: 50 Lakhs INR
- Grade B: 30 Lakhs INR
- Grade C: 10 Lakhs INR
The salary of a domestic cricketer is:
- Senior women (playing XI): 20, 000 INR
Which players of the Men’s Indian Cricket Team fall in different categories for the salaries?
Around 27 cricketers are given the varied contracts as per their skills and contributions towards the Indian Cricket teams on the international and domestic levels.
Grade A+ Players: Such players receive over 7 Crore INR on a yearly basis. These players are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.
Grade A Players: Such players receive over 5 Crore INR on a yearly basis. These players are R Ashwin, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Shami.
Grade B Players: Such players receive over 3 Crore INR on a yearly basis. These players are Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Axar Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shardul Thakur and Shreyas Iyer.
Grade C Players: Such players receive over 1 Crore INR on a yearly basis. These players are Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mayank Agarwal, Deepak Chahar, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha, Suryakumar Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Washington Sundar.
Which players of the Women’s Indian Cricket Team fall in different categories for the salaries?
Indian cricketers are not only given a salary but also given money on a ‘Per Match’ basis. For test matches, 15 lakhs are given per match. For ODIs, the cricketers take 6 lakhs per match and for the T20i, 3 lakhs per match is allocated. The amount is given as per the number of overs and the amount of effort that would be required by the player in that particular match.
Grade A Players: These players received 50 lakhs per year. Some of the leading names of players in this category are Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Poonam Yadav.
Grade B Players: These players received 30 lakhs per year. Some of the leading names of players in this category are Ekta Bisht, Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues.
Grade C Players: These players received 10 lakhs per year. Some of the leading names of players in this category are Radha Yadav, D Hemalatha, Anuja Patil, Veda Krishnamurthy, Mansi Joshi, Punam Raut, Mona Meshram, Arundhati Reddy, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Taniya Bhatia and Pooja Vastrakar.
Are Indian Cricketers also given Bonus from time to time?
For individual performances, sometimes the Indian cricketers are also given bonuses and additional funds for exceptional work and skill on the field. This amount is given apart from the match fees or the salary that is given:
- Rs 500,000 for scoring a hundred in a test or ODI
- Rs 700,000 for a double hundred in the test
- Rs 500,000 for 5 wicket hauls in Test, ODI, or T20
- Rs 700,000 for a 10-wicket haul in test matches
