Rajasthan Royals have suffered a big blow as their captain, Sanju Samson, will miss their important IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 24. The match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Sanju Samson Ruled Out of Crucial Clash Against RCB
Rajasthan Royals have confirmed that Sanju Samson is still recovering from his abdominal injury and will miss their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL 2025.
The team said that Sanju will stay back at their home base in Jaipur and won’t travel with the squad to Bengaluru for the game against RCB.
A group of selected Rajasthan Royals medical staff is closely working with captain Sanju Samson as he continues his recovery. The team management is carefully monitoring his condition and will decide on his return for future matches based on how he progresses.
Official Statement from Rajasthan Royals
As reported by a Times of India journalist, Rajasthan Royals said in a statement, “Sanju Samson is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team’s home base with selected RR medical staff. As part of his ongoing rehab process, he will not be traveling to Bangalore for the upcoming match against RCB. The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action.”
Sanju Samson has shown good form with the bat in IPL 2025, scoring 224 runs in seven games. He’s averaging 37.33 and striking at over 140, with one half-century to his name. Interestingly, he didn’t keep wickets for RR in their first three matches of the season.
Sanju Samson was waiting for clearance from the NCA to play as a wicketkeeper-batter after recovering from surgery on his right index finger. During that period, Riyan Parag took over as captain and will continue in the role until Samson returns.
Rajasthan Royals are currently 8th on the IPL 2025 points table, with just 4 points from 8 matches. They’ve lost four games in a row, hurting their chances of making the playoffs.
