Many supporters’ lives have been saved by the Indian Premier League, which brings them unbridled delight and excitement. Over the years, the league has prospered and is vying to become one of the most well-liked competitions in the sports world. Although the IPL gave off the idea that it was exclusively designed for hitters initially, this perception has since altered. Teams know that having quality bowlers is essential to winning the championship. It has frequently been observed that a single bowler can entirely change a game to their team’s advantage.
Young pacer Alzarri Joseph holds the record for the best bowling statistics in an IPL game. In a match with a low score, he dismantled Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting order and took six wickets for just 12 runs in 2019. For the Hyderabad team, Mumbai Indians had set a target of 137 runs, which appeared to be easily reachable. Alzarri Joseph delivered his expected blows, but SRH could not withstand them and was bowled out for just 96 runs, losing the game by 40 runs.

Alzarri Joseph
The greatest bowling performance in IPL history belongs to Joseph’s six wickets for 12 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2019.
This spell is all the more remarkable given that the Antiguan delivered it for Mumbai Indians (MI) on his professional debut. His spell enabled MI to limit SRH to just 96 runs in response to their total of 136 runs.
Sohail Tanvir
Tanvir defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2008 by taking six wickets for 14 runs. With 22 wickets in 11 matches, the Pakistan pacer went on to lead the first-ever tournament in wicket-taking and was a key factor in Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) first and lone championship victory.
Adam Zampa
Only Tanvir, another IPL bowler, and Zampa have ever taken six wickets in a single inning. Zampa was then playing for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants when they faced SRH in 2016, an interesting fact being that SRH won the IPL that year (RPS). Despite hitting a perfect 6/19, the team ultimately lost the game.
Anil Kumble
Speaking volumes about Kumble’s prowess was his five wickets for as many runs in 2009. After bowling only 3.1 overs, the Indian spin legend helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeat the reigning champion Rajasthan Royals by a score of 75 runs.
Akash Madhwal
Akash Madhwal finished that inning’s bowling with a score of 3.3-0-5-5. It surpassed Jaspreet Bumrah’s (MI) previous IPL record for the highest bowling numbers by an Indian bowler, which he held with the bowling figures of 4-1-10-5 against KKR in DY Patil stadium on April 9, 2022.
