In the much-hyped, historical confrontation, YouTube-turned-pro-boxer Jake Paul emerged victorious over the boxing icon Mike Tyson, 58. For the first time in 19 years, Tyson suited up and shook off his retirement vest for this fight against the young gunslinger. It began with Tyson dominating the encounter aggressively, as many have viewed him by his knockdown power. He pressed the action early into the first round by shoving Paul into the corner and landing several heavy blows against him. This, however, was matched by impressive resilience on the part of Paul, who immediately composed himself and weathered the storm.

As the rounds progressed, Tyson’s intensity seemed to fade, while Paul began to take control. In the second round, after absorbing Tyson’s early jabs, Paul began to execute his game plan flawlessly. He began moving more powerfully, one combination of clean shots, which included a hat-trick of left hooks.

From the third round onwards Tyson, defensively appeared to fight much more than he did in the first round; he hardly was keeping up with the pace of Paul. Paul continued to dominate the rest of the bout using fast, calculated punches, as it appeared Tyson began running out of gas.

Tyson’s Brief Resurgence

Outboxed, Tyson had flashes of brilliance in the fifth round as he regained a bit of his hard-hitting style by making some solid connections. But overall, it was evident that age was catching up since Tyson’s movements slowed down and he could not get within striking distance to deliver clean shots.
