ICC Test Rankings: Virat Kohli, who is struggling with form, got another shock when he came close to being out of the top 10 in the latest ICC rankings. Rishabh Pant, who played an innings of 99 runs against New Zealand, has now overtaken him, while Yashasvi Jaiswal is at the top among Indians.

Rishabh Pant overtook his superstar Indian teammate Virat Kohli to reach sixth place in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings for batsmen released on Wednesday. Pant scored 99 runs in the second innings of the first Test match against New Zealand, which gave him a gain of three places in the rankings. On the other hand, Kohli has slipped one place down to eighth position despite scoring 70 runs.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal remains India’s highest-ranked batsman in fourth place. Rohit Sharma has dropped out of the top 10. Indian captain Rohit Sharma has dropped two places to joint 15th position with Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne. England’s star batsman Joe Root remains at the top of the batting rankings.

New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra (up 36 places to 18th) and Devon Conway (up 12 places to 36th) made a big jump in the batting rankings while their teammate Matt Henry (up two places to ninth) has reached the top 10 in the bowlers’ rankings. Fast bowler Will O’Rourke, who played a key role in New Zealand’s Test cricket victory on Indian soil after a long time, has moved up two places to 39th position.

Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has benefited from taking 11 wickets in two innings against England. He regained his place in the bowling rankings at 17th position. His fellow spinner Sajid Khan gained 22 places and has reached 50th position. Indian fast bowling leader Jasprit Bumrah remains at the top of the bowlers’ rankings. After him comes Ravichandran Ashwin while Ravindra Jadeja remains at seventh position as before.
