Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah will remain with the Pakistan squad that takes on Sri Lanka in the upcoming ODI series in Rawalpindi, after his family home was attacked in Lower Dir. According to reports, unidentified assailants fired shots at the gate of Naseem’s residence early on Monday morning. No one at the house was injured during the incident.

Police Launch Probe After Attack on Naseem Shah’s House

Local authorities declared that the attackers fled the scene immediately after firing, and a proper police inquiry has now been initiated. According to a report by Dawn, Naseem’s father received assurances from senior police officials saying that the culprits would be brought to justice without any delay. It is not known who was present in the house at the time of the attack.

Naseem Shah Unfazed to Play Full Part in Pakistan-Sri Lanka Series

Despite the unsettling incident, Naseem Shah has decided to stay with the Pakistan squad and is expected to participate fully in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Sources close to the team confirmed that the situation will not affect Naseem’s playing schedule or preparation.

The ODI series will get underway in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, with a T20I tri-series to follow later this month pitting Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe against one another. Naseem is part of both squads and remains integral to Pakistan’s attack as the team continues its preparations for the 2025 calendar year of cricket.

Family and Career Background: The Shah Brothers in Pakistani Cricket

Naseem Shah, one of Pakistan’s leading fast bowlers, comes from a cricketing family. His younger brothers, Hunain Shah and Ubaid Shah, are also rising stars in domestic and franchise cricket.

Hunain, who famously struck the winning runs for Islamabad United in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) final, recently played a standout match in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, scoring a half-century and taking six wickets in a ten-wicket win. Ubaid, representing Multan Sultans in the PSL, last featured for Lahore Whites at the end of October.
