Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has made a huge decision this year of Harshit Rana replacement with Navdeep Saini, who is recovering from a serious injury, as part of their IPL squad for the current season.
Navdeep Saini Becomes Member of KKR at Rs 75 Lakh
KKR has acquired the services of Navdeep Saini, who has played all short formats for India (Test, ODI, and T20) for a whopping Rs 75 lakh. Though he has not played for the national team since 2021, signing Saini is a clear indicator that KKR is looking to bolster their bowling unit.
In the IPL, he has played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals. In 32 matches, he has taken 23 wickets with an economy rate of 8.88. His last match was in 2023.
“A Revival Opportunity” – Saini
As far as making a comeback is concerned, Saini stated that this moment is a turning point for him in his career. He cited that “over the last few years, I have faced many challenges; however, my continued hard work kept me ready.” Saini feels that this chance to play for KKR is the beginning of his revival showing the dedication and willpower that will get him back to competing at the highest level again.
KKR’s Injury Concerns Continue
Earlier this week, they also signed Saurabh Dubey to replace injured fast bowler Akash Deep. This series of replacements underscores the injuries that the team has suffered and their attempts to maintain squad balance.
Gujarat Titans Make a Bowling Change
The Gujarat Titans (GT) team has also made an announcement regarding a replacement. Kulwant Khejroliya, a left-arm fast bowler, has been included in the team in place of injured Prithvi Raj Yarra for a fee of ₹30 lakhs. Khejroliya is no stranger to the Gujarat Titans. He was part of their squad last season. He played a single game and performed decently by taking 1 for 29 in three overs.
Khejroliya’s IPL Experience
He has previously played for the Bangalore franchise as well in 2018 and 2019 and had a very short spell with Kolkata in 2023. His experience with various franchises makes him an excellent support for GT’s pace battery.
