Nitish Kumar Reddy made a memorable debut in international cricket on Wednesday (October 9) as he played a quick-fire knock against the Bangladesh cricket team in the second T20I match between India and Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
All thanks to his consistent performances in the Indian Premier League, Nitish received his maiden call-up from the BCCI for the ongoing T20 series against the Bangladeshi tigers. In his debut match, he bowled two overs but he couldn’t take any wickets. With the bat, he scored an unbeaten knock of 16 runs.

On Wednesday, during the second T20I match, Nitish Kumar Reddy showed his batting prowess as he entertained the Delhi crowd with his sensational knock. He smashed the Bangladeshi bowlers to every corner of the ground. He came to India’s rescue and repaid team’s faith on him, under pressure.
Nitish Kumar Reddy walked out to bat during the powerplay after the Indian cricket team lost both their openers in the first three overs. To make things worse, India also lost its captain – Suryakumar Yadav before the powerplay ended.
With the team in trouble, all the responsibility of getting India back on track, fell on to the young shoulders of Nitish Kumar Reddy and sensational Rinky Singhit was up to Nitish and his new partner, Rinku Singh. The young and dynamic duo didn’t disappoint their fans as they stiched a crucial 108-run partnership for the fourth wicket, which put India in control of the game.
Nitish Kumar Reddy started his innings carefully, scoring just 12 runs off 11 balls by the end of the 8th over. However, he changed gears in the 9th over, smashing a six off a free-hit from Mahmudullah. In the 10th over, the 21-year-old accelerated his innins, smashing two more sixes to find his rhythm.

Nitish Kumar Reddy eventually went on to score a brilliant half-century off just 26 balls, becoming the fourth youngest Indian player to achieve this milestone in the shortest format of the game. Nitish has joined the list list featuring Rohit Sharma (20y 143d), Tilak Varma (20y 271d), and Rishabh Pant (21y 38d).
Reddy eventually got out for 74 runs in the 14th over, off just 34 balls, including 4 fours and 7 sixes.
Meanwhile, one of the biggest highlights of Reddy’s knock came in the 13th over when he took Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz to cleaners. India managed to score 26 runs off that over, with Reddy hitting 24 of them. The over started with Rinku Singh taking a single to give Reddy the strike.
Reddy then hit a six and a four, followed by a double on the fourth ball. On the fifth ball, he launched another six to bring up the 100-run partnership. Mehidy bowled a wide before Reddy finished the over with another six.
