Anita Alvarez, the key member of the USA artistic swimming team is confident of putting up a good show at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Alvarez is set to appear for the third time in Olympic Games, thus making her the first three-time Olympian in the history of US artistic swimming.
“Our confidence is level. Which I feel is a great place to be. Every time we compete, we gain a new sense of confidence in ourselves and what we plan to show in Paris. It also teaches us that there’s still tons of room to grow”, said Alvarez.
Never-Say-Die Spirit
The confidence exuded by the 27-year-old comes as an inspiration from someone who came out alive from the jaws of death.
It was in June 2022 while competing at the World Championships in Budapest that Alvarez had almost drowned in the pool. While performing her routine at a solo event, the artistic swimmer had fainted and sank to the bottom of the pool.

Sensing a trouble her coach Andrea Fuentes dived into the pool and pulled Alvarez up to safety even as she was in an unconscious state. She was rescued in a nick-of-time.
