Dhawan started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). After that, he played for Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings. He retired after the 2024 season.

Rahul also won the Orange Cap in IPL 2020 when he played for Punjab Kings.
