Indian cricket team beat England in the third and the last game of the ODI series by 5 wickets which was played on Sunday, 17th July at Old Trafford. It was not a game or series to remember for the host (England cricket team). They lost both the series i.e. T20Is and ODIs against India in their home.
It was not a good start to the captaincy for Jos Buttler after he was named full-time white-ball English captain. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya took the game away from England after they were in the dominating position. England tool three early wickets while defending the target of 260 runs during the last ODI. Reece Topley was again showing his class as he dismissed all the top 3 batters in the first 10 overs.
But the way Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya batted was a joy to watch for the fans. They really took on English bowlers. Rishabh Pant scored his maiden ODI century in this pressure game. He also opened up about his 125* run innings in the post match interview.
“Hopefully I remember (this knock) for the rest of my life. I was focusing on one ball at a time when I was batting. When your team is under pressure and you bat like that, something I aspire to do,” said Rishabh Pant in the post-match interview telecasted on Sony Sports Network.
Rishabh was also named ‘player of the match’ for his stunning inning in this game.
