Cricket lovers around the world are waiting for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. If you are interested to know When will IPL 2026 start? Well, the answer to that question has now been revealed. The IPL 2026 season will kick off on March 28. This announcement was made by the official broadcasters during the final match of the 2026 T20 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

When Will IPL 2026 Start?

We now know that the IPL 2026 will commence on 28 March, 2026. The announcement was made by Star Sports, the official broadcasters of IPL matches, shortly before the final match of the T20 World Cup 2026 between India and New Zealand, which took place in Ahmedabad.
While the tournament’s date has now been confirmed, the match timetable will be announced very soon by the tournament organisers.

Indian Premier league (IPL): one of the largest T20 Leagues in the world

The IPL is the world’s leading T20 league and it has become a T20 cricket tournament that is extremely successful and makes a significant amount of money. Since the IPL began back in 2008, its success has transformed the world of franchise cricket by showcasing some of the best cricketers playing at the highest level of professional cricket.

This year’s IPL tournament (2026) will be the 19th edition of the IPL. The tournament receives tens of millions of viewings each year on multiple TV and digital channels from around the world.

The competition for the IPL trophy is being held in an attempt to win the coveted trophy each team plays for against one another during this season of play. Royal Challengers Bengaluru is the defending champion.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will begin their season as the reigning champion of the Indian Premier League (IPL). RCB won their first Indian Premier League (IPL) last season after defeating Punjab Kings in the final game of that year’s tournament.

RCB will attempt to defend their title, as they enter to compete in the Indian Premier League 2026 tournament commencing on March 28, 2026.

Other Previous IPL Champs The IPL has also seen many teams be awarded the IPL title outside of MI and CSK. KKR has won the trophy in 2012,2014 & 2024. RR was the first team to be crowned champions of the IPL (2008). DC won the IPL title in 2009. SRH won their IPL title in 2016. GT won their IPL title in 2022. All of these teams helped to make the IPL an exciting and competitive league.
