Which are the Top 10 Great Ideas that WWE Management Said No To?
Learn more about the top 10 great ideas that WWE management has said no to and how these ideas could have brought more money and fame.

An idea may seem good but if it is not executed properly then it can turn out to be a big blunder. A perfectly executed storyline can be fructiferous. Here are 10 Times WWE said no to a great idea:
- Great idea – John Cena’s popularity
John Cena hasn’t had a heel turn during his career since a brief period in 2003, just before he started gaining enormous fan support. Since that time, Cena has been portrayed as the ideal good guy, so how could he possibly turn his back on all of his fans? It has reportedly been proposed and rejected numerous times throughout Cena’s career, reportedly even by him.
- Good idea – 7 deadly sins
Raven introduced a plot on Sunday Night Heat centred on the seven deadly sins of pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. However, WWE Management ultimately decided that it was “not over enough,” and the plug was pulled shortly after it started.
- Good idea – Booker T winning At Wrestle Mania
It’s rarely a good idea for wrestling storylines to introduce racist elements. Knowing how the psychology of professional wrestling operates, it stands to reason that the end goal would have been Booker T winning the championship during the feud when Triple H said that “people like Booker T” could never win the World Championship.
Fans were eager to see Booker T triumph over the challenges he had to face before the championship match, but he fell short. Wrestling fans know the original idea would have been a much better payoff because Booker T was allegedly supposed to win this match, but the outcome was changed beforehand for unspecified reasons.
- Good idea – CM Punk winning The Extreme Elimination Chamber
The ECW relaunch showed some promise as a third brand for WWE, but everything fell apart at the first ECW-branded pay-per-view after WWE took control. Fan favourites like CM Punk and Rob Van Dam were swiftly eliminated, which was a let-down for the “Extreme Elimination Chamber’s advertised main event.
- Good idea – Nexus Winning
Such a lost opportunity; in 2009, the Nexus group of invaders from the NXT reality show’s first season were scorching hot. Not since the nWo have invaders from another “organization” of wrestlers attracted as much attention from their television debut. It would seem that WWE would try to extend the storyline as much as possible by having the Nexus win their SummerSlam match against a team of WWE wrestlers. After John Cena allegedly pushed to alter the storyline’s conclusion and have the group lose, “Team WWE” ultimately prevailed in their first match against the Nexus group.
- Good idea – Party Foul – Adam Rose
Adam Rose had pitched them an idea during his time in WWE before he was released as they did not believe that he had the acting skills to pull off a new character. Adam Rose suggested that his character start to shed his image as a party animal and instead become a much darker figure who hated everything Rose stood for. Before his release, the ideas for the Kruger character were rejected and he was instead placed in the unpopular Social Outcasts stable.
- Good idea – Ortan Breaking the Streak
I believe Randy Orton ought to have been the one to end the illustrious streak at WrestleMania 21. Instead of Brock Lesnar, who was already a major star on his own, breaking The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak, the streak should have been used to develop a young wrestler into an absolute superstar.
- Good idea – Biscoes Brothers
The Briscoe Brothers are one of the best tag teams on the planet. Discussions with the promotion, however, stopped after someone had the brilliant idea to give them a try-out match with WWE. You might be asking yourself why one of the top tag teams in the world would lose their WWE try-out. The Briscoes claim that they weren’t deemed “cosmetically pleasing” enough for WWE to consider adding them to the roster.
- Good idea – Bullet club reunion
The idea to create the group under the WWE brand was proposed. Ultimately, this plan was shelved, and the group is now known as The Balor Club and does not include AJ Styles, who was formerly the leader of the Bullet Club in New Japan Pro Wrestling. WWE chose to take a different path.
- Good idea – Undertaker vs Mordecai
Fans couldn’t wait to see them clash in a battle of Light versus Dark because the idea of a religious zealot-type character who represented the “light” feuding with WWE’s most famous “Deadman” character The Undertaker was intriguing. Mordecai was ultimately sent back to WWE‘s developmental territory before the angle could be completed because WWE Management did not have enough faith in his skills.
