The latest episode of WWE SmackDown from Montreal had many big moments. Randy Orton surprised everyone by hitting RKOs on Sami Zayn, Trick Williams, and Damian Priest before the number one contender match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga won the WWE Tag Team titles from The Wyatt Sicks. Giulia and Kiana James earned a future Women’s Tag Team title shot after beating Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, along with Lash Legend and Nia Jax. Carmelo Hayes defended his US Title in an open challenge and defeated Ilja Dragunov. AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura was also added to the next special event.
Even with all this action, some booking choices left fans unhappy. Here are four moments that did not land well.
Jade Cargill Fights but Still Avoids a Title Defense
Jade Cargill continues to show strong confidence, but she still has not defended her Women’s Championship since winning it.
On SmackDown, she beat Chelsea Green in a normal match. After the win, Jordynne Grace asked her for a title match. Instead of accepting, Cargill walked away.
Many fans feel a championship only feels real when it is defended. Without a single title defense, the belt starts to look more like a prop than a prize.
Roman Reigns “Declares” for the Royal Rumble Without Showing Up
Several stars recently announced their entry into the Royal Rumble by cutting promos or appearing live. Cody Rhodes, Liv Morgan, Jey Uso, and Rhea Ripley all made strong statements.
Roman Reigns, however, did not appear on the show. WWE only played a video package and had officials say he was in the Rumble.
Fans expected him to deliver the message himself. A short live promo would have made the moment feel more important and personal.
Jacob Fatu’s Attack Gets an Easy Answer
During an interview segment with Cody Rhodes, Jacob Fatu interrupted and claimed that Drew McIntyre was the one who attacked him earlier.
The problem is that this answer felt too simple. There was no real mystery, no investigation, and no surprise.
This could have been used to introduce a new star, start a fresh rivalry, or build up a mid-card wrestler. Instead, it ended quickly without much impact.
Alexa Bliss Takes Another Loss
Alexa Bliss was once one of the top names in the women’s division. Now, she keeps getting pinned on SmackDown.
In the recent tag match, Lash Legend hit Bliss with a big move. Charlotte Flair took out Legend, but that left Bliss open. Kiana James then pinned her for the win.
This is not the first time Bliss has lost recently. Fans feel that Flair, who has many title wins, could have taken the pin instead without losing much momentum.
