With less than three weeks to go until the IPL 2026 Auction, the Gujarat Titans are set up very well for this mini auction with a solid group of players to build their team around.
Gujarat has retained 20 important players including Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler, and Rahul Tewatia and has clearly put great faith in their team following an excellent 2025 season that led to a playoff berth.
With only five spots left in the squad-four reserved for overseas players-and a purse of ₹12.9 crore, GT will want to invest smartly in players who could push them into title contention.
Four Players Gujarat Titans Could Target in the IPL 2026 Auction
1. David Miller – Proven Finisher and Ex GT Match-Winner
After losing Sherfane Rutherford to the Mumbai Indians in a trade, the Gujarat Titans are looking for a suitable replacement for that finishing position. Miller was one of the most successful and important players for GT in the first three seasons. He is an obvious choice as the team searches for a new finisher.
The South African star has already delivered for GT in high-pressure situations and continues to be one of the most consistent performers in the IPL middle order, scoring 3077 runs at an average of 35.77 and a strike rate of 138.60.
His return could restore to the Titans the finishing strength they earlier had, besides giving them a stable lower middle-order presence in the IPL 2026 Auction.
2. Mohit Sharma – Experienced Indian Pacer for Death Overs
Mohit Sharma has been a very valuable addition to the Gujarat Titans as an excellent second option for reliable Indian fast bowlers, particularly given his remarkable performance over the past season of 2022 where he has taken 27 Wicket in this season as well as being able to demonstrate a high degree of command at the end of an innings as well as significant variation on his bowling style.
Mohit is a great choice for domestic bowlers as he has a lot of experience and has proven he can deliver at a high level under pressure. He’s picked up 134 wickets in 120 IPL matches. He is a great addition to a team like GT as they are looking for for a balanced bowling attack within their budget.
3. Glenn Maxwell – The Dynamic Middle-Order Game-Changer
Glenn Maxwell was recently cut from the Punjab Kings and has emerged as one of the most electrifying players in the available player pool for the IPL 2026 Auction. His athleticism and dynamic batting style at the crease combined with his off-spin bowling ability give him dual value and will significantly strengthen the middle batting order of the Gujarat Titans.
Maxwell’s incredible overall IPL figures of 2819 runs scored and 41 wickets claimed at an impressive strike rate of 155.14 showcase how he has the potential to change the momentum of any match on his own. Given GT’s required criteria for finding a quality, well-rounded, big-hitter within a middle-order frame of reference, it makes sense that he would feature prominently on their auction shortlist.
4. Spencer Johnson – Overseas Left-Arm Pace Option
Now, with Gerald Coetzee being released, GT need an overseas fast bowler, and Spencer Johnson comes in as a perfect replacement. His left-arm pace gives variety to the attack, improving GT’s options both at the Powerplay and at the death.
While Johnson has only taken part in nine matches of the IPL and taken five wickets, the GT’s knowledge of Johnson is derived from earlier experiences. His speed, ability to use different angles, and wicket-taking ability are all reasons for the GT picking him strategically for the IPL 2026 Auction. Later in the same year, Johnson may prove to be a valuable addition to the GT roster.
