BCCI Hunts for New Jersey Sponsor as Dream11 Bows Out: Dream11 has decided to step away as Team India’s jersey sponsor, just weeks before the Asia Cup 2025. The move comes after the Indian Parliament passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 – a law that forced Dream11 to shut down its cash-based fantasy contests, which were its main source of income.

The fantasy sports platform had signed a massive ₹358 crore sponsorship deal back in July 2023. But now, with Dream11 pulling out, the BCCI is in a tight spot, scrambling to find a new jersey sponsor before the Asia Cup kicks off on September 9 in the UAE. To make matters trickier, the jerseys that had already been prepared for the tournament will have to be scrapped.

Dream11 Steps Away as Team India’s Jersey Sponsor: New Contenders for Sponsorship

According to a report by NDTV, Toyota Motor Corporation and a fintech start-up have already shown interest in replacing Dream11 as the team’s sponsor.

“Toyota Motor Corporation and a Fintech start-up have all shown interest till now. However, the official tendering process has not started yet,” the report stated.

Dream11 executives recently met with BCCI CEO Hemang Amin in Mumbai to officially end their sponsorship. The board now has to quickly lock in a new deal – because it’s highly unlikely that India will take the field without a sponsor during such a big tournament.

“(Representatives of) Dream11 visited the BCCI office and informed CEO Hemang Amin that they won’t be able to continue… As a result, they won’t be the team’s sponsors for the Asia Cup. The BCCI will float a new tender soon,” a BCCI official told NDTV.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia also confirmed the news to ANI, saying: “BCCI and Dream 11 are discontinuing their relationship after the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, was passed. BCCI will ensure not to indulge with any such organisations ahead in future.”

Asia Cup 2025: Tournament Details

The Asia Cup, which will be played in the T20 format this year, begins on September 9 across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. India, the defending champions, have been drawn into Group A alongside hosts UAE, Pakistan, and Oman.

India’s Fixtures

Suryakumar Yadav and his team start their campaign against the UAE on September 10, followed by the blockbuster clash against Pakistan in Dubai on September 14. Their final group-stage match is against Oman on September 19, with the tournament final set for September 28.

Looking Ahead to the T20 World Cup

This Asia Cup is more than just another trophy chase – it’s also a crucial warm-up for all Asian teams as they gear up for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka. And with India bringing a balanced, in-form squad, they head into the tournament as strong favorites.
