Yashpal Sharma former Indian cricketer and also a member of the 1983 world cup-winning squad passed away on Tuesday due to a heart attack at the age of 66. His wife’s name is Renu Sharma and has a family of two daughters and a son. He was born in Ludhiana on August 11, 1954. Yashpal Sharma was regarded as the finest middle-order batsman.  He made his international debut against England in the year 1979.

Yashpal Sharma represented India in 37 tests and scored 1606 runs with two centuries and nine fifties. He made his ODI debut against Pakistan in the year 1978. He played 42 One Day Internationals for India in which he scored 883 runs. He will be very well remembered for his half-century in the semi-final of the 1983 world cup at Old Trafford.

His last international appearance was in the year 1985 during the West Indies tour of India. He was also the national selector during the early 2000s.
