U19 World Cup: Three Indians Included in the Final XII
Other than Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, India’s Kanishk Chouhan and Henil Patel also find a place in the team, having delivered some impressive performances with the ball in the 16-team tournament.
As far as Kanishk’s performance in the final match of the competition is concerned, the spinner scored 37 runs off 20 at the backend of India’s batting innings, which helped the boys in blue get over the 400-run mark, which looked difficult at one stage.
Along with contributing with the bat, Kanishk also picked up a wicket at a crucial time for the eventual champions.
U19 World Cup: The Start
One of the reasons for Inda’s consistent performance, especially with the ball, was the performance of Henil Patel, who took the new ball in almost all the games and picked up wickets in the first ten overs, thereby making things easy for other bowlers, including the spinners.
U19 World Cup: Other Notable Performances
Other than the trio of Indian players, Oliver Peake, Thomas Rew and Nooristani Omarzai also stepped for their respective teams, with all three of them scoring at least one century in the tournament and guiding their sides to the semi-final and to the final in the case of Thomas Rew.
U19 World Cup: The Bowlers
As far as the bowlers are concerned, three that stood out were Vitel Lawes, Ali Raza, and Manny Lumsden, with Lumsden being the highest wicket taker, which was one of the reasons why England made it to the final of the recently concluded edition of the 19 World Cup held in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
