Australia have delt a major blow with Alayse Perry and Kim Garth getting ruled out of the three-match ODI series against India.
The Injuries
Fast bowling all-rounder Perry, along with pacer Kim Garth, suffered quad strains, which led to them getting ruled out of the ODI series against India first match of which is currently underway at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
The Return
However, Australia will be boosted by the return of their captain, Alyssa Healy, who returns for the ODI leg of the multi-format tour, which the Women in Blue lead by 4-2, having earned these points after winning two of the three games that they have played so far on their tour of Australia.
The Context
India and Australia are currently involved in a multi-format series comprising three T20Is, three ODIs, and one Test match scheduled to be played next month. The tour has a point system where two points are awarded for a win in white-ball cricket, which goes to four in case of a Test match.
Recent Form
This happens to be the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side’s first assignment in the ODI format of the game since winning the Women’s World Cup in November last year. In addition to that, the two sides will take on each other for the first time since the semi-final of the same tournament, which saw India chase down a record total courtesy of a century from Jemimah Rodrigues.

The Teams
As far as the makeup of the two teams for the first IND vs AUS ODI is concerned, India has retained the core that featured in the World Cup, with the expectation of Pratika Rawal, who returns to the playing XI after an injury she picked up during the tournament. Other than Partika, Kashvee Gautam also finds a place in the playing XI, which also comprises Shafali Verma.
The fast bowling department of the team will be handled by Kranti Gaud and Renuka Singh Thakur, both of whom are expected to take the new ball from either ends while the spin bowling arsenal will be led by Deepti Sharma, who will be accompanied by Shree Charani.
The Opponent
The home team, Australia, on the other hand see the return of experienced spinners Alana King and fast bowling all-rounder Tahila McGrath, both of whom were not a part of the T20I leg of the tour.
The Role
On the batting side of things, Georgia Voll will bat at number three after her match-winning effort in the second T20I against India. Another important development that has come out of the match is that Alyssa Healy won’t be keeping wickets; instead, Beth Mooney will be fulfilling that particular role.
