The Super 8 Leg of the 2026 T20 World Cup is done and dusted, with four teams proceeding to the semi-final to be played on March 4 and 5 in Kolkata and Mumbai, respectively. India, England, New Zealand and South Africa will battle it out to book their spot in the summit clash scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.
The Performance
If we talk about the performance of the four teams that have made it to the top, all of them have played some quality cricket to defeat the teams that were a part of their group in the first two rounds.
India, the home team, got the better of USA, Namibia, Pakistan and Netherlands to finish on top of the standings in their group, while South Africa happens to be the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far, which includes a win over India in the first match of the Super 8 leg.
The Journey
As far as the performance of New Zealand leading up to the semi final is concerned the Blackcaps lost one match each in thefirst round and in the Super 8 against South Africa and England respectively and required a bit of help from co host Sri Lanka to get them into the next round which they did by not letting Pakistan register a win by a margin of 65 runs or more.
The Imperfection
England, the former T20 World Cup winners, who are yet to play a perfect game in terms of their performance in all three aspects, have managed to find their way out in the majority of the matches to be the first team to qualify for the semi final loosing only to West Indies in the process.

The Challenge
While there is no denying thefact that all teams have momentum on their side except New Zealand, who are coming into their game on the back of a loss against England and will put their best foot forward in an attempt to win the game, but will have to start afresh as past results count for nothing in the knockout stage.
The Batting
Other than the performance of the teams, some individual brilliance has also been on display in the ongoing tournament.
