Mustafizur, who was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2026 IPL auction, had to be dropped from the squad due to strained relations between India and Bangladesh.

Blessing Muzarabani (2026)

Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani is the latest entrant in the list of players who chose IPL over PSL. Muzarabani was picked by Islamabad United for the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League, but as mentioned above, the fast bowler was named as Mustafizur’s replacement for IPL 2026 by Kolkata Knight Riders. If we talk about Muzarabani’s performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, he ended the tournament as the second-highest wicket-taker with 13 wickets.

Corbin Bosch (2025)

South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch was the first player who chose IPL over PSL. Bosch did so in 2025 when he withdrew his name after being picked by the Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, as he got an offer from the Mumbai Indians, who were in search of a replacement for Lizaad Williams

Kusal Mendis (2025)

Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis, who represented the Gujarat Titans in the second half of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League, was one of those players who chose IPL over PSL. Mendis replaced former England captain Jos Buttler, who had to miss the last few matches of the league last year due to international commitments.

Interestingly, Mendis had joined PSL before it got suspended midway due to the war between India and Pakistan, and was instead picked up by the Gujarat Titans as a replacement for Jos Buttler.

Mitchell Owen (2025)

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen also finds his name in the list of players who chose IPL over PSL. Owen, who played for the Punjab Kings after coming in as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell in the second half of the tournament, was initially supposed to finish his PSL commitment, but with the league getting suspended, he decided to directly join the Punjab Kings.

Kyle Jamieson (2025)

Like Owen, New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson decided to play for the Punjab Kings as Lockie Ferguson’s replacement, including the playoffs and the final, thereby becoming one of the players who chose IPL over PSL.
