Top 10 Lowest Team Totals Of IPL: The IPL has received a lot of recognition due to being very competitive and having lots of runs scored; however, there have been occasions where wronged bowlers have influenced the outcome of a match and caused wild batting collapses. These matches have shown the other side of the IPL, where even some of the best batting lineups were not able to perform at all.

Typically, teams succumbed to the pressure of chasing a target and thus experienced low scoring; however, there were times when teams couldn’t avoid getting all out, regardless of whether they batted first or second. This is a summary of the ten lowest team totals in the history of the IPL.

10 Lowest Team Totals Of IPL History

1. 49 – Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2017

Recorded as the main reason for the loss in 2017 in IPL was a very low score by RCB of 49 runs while chasing a target of 132 runs against the Kolkata franchise, this occurred at the Eden Gardens Stadium.

Kolkata’s bowlers applied pressure right from the start, and the entire team collapsed within just 9.4 overs. RCB suffered a crushing 82-run defeat a record that remains unbroken to this day.

2. 58 – Rajasthan Royals, 2009

During the 2009 IPL season, the Rajasthan Royals batted first in a match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Cape Town. The Royals finished their innings with just 58 runs while chasing a target of 134. The Royals lost all their wickets in 15.1 overs.

3. 59 – Rajasthan Royals, 2023

This match represented one of the all-time lowest scores recorded by the Royals. Rajasthan’s batting order produced another bad performance against the RCB when they failed to meet the run target in Jaipur, India, in 2023. On that occasion, the Royals needed 172 runs to win, but were bowled out for just 59 runs.

With this crushing victory, RCB defeated the Royals by a total of 112 runs, which was the largest margin of victory the Royals have ever had at home.

4. 66 – Delhi Daredevils, 2017

The match played in Delhi saw the Delhi Daredevils faced with a huge target of 213 runs against the Mumbai Indians. The fall of wickets began immediately and meant that the entire team was bowled out for 66 runs in 13.4 overs. Consequently, the Mumbai Indians won this match by 146 runs – one of the biggest margins of victory in IPL history.

5. 67 – Delhi Daredevils, 2017

Another low scoring season for the Delhi Daredevils, took place in Mohali when they batted first against Kings XI Punjab and only 67 runs were scored in total. Punjab not only passed the target easily but won by 10 wickets with 73 balls remaining.

6. 67 – Kolkata Knight Riders, 2008

In the inaugural season of IPL history, the Kolkata Knight Riders scored just 67 runs while batting first against the Mumbai Indians; the match took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where the winning margin was 8 wickets and the Mumbai Indians had 87 balls remaining.

7. 68 – Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2022

In 2022, when RCB faced off against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Brabourne Stadium, they were bowled out for 68 in their innings (this was a very disappointing result) and Hyderabad finished the RCB innings with over 72 balls to spare and a 9-wicket winning margin.

8. 70 – Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2019

RCB batted first against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and were bowled out for just 70 runs in Chennai. RCB batsmen found it difficult to cope with the spin and swing of the CSK bowlers for long periods of time, but CSK went fairly slowly in reply before winning by 7 wickets with 14 balls remaining.

9. 70 – Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2014

In 2014, while batting first against Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi, RCB was all out for a mere 70 runs. Facing brilliant bowling, their batsmen fell one after another, and the team was never able to recover. Ultimately, Rajasthan chased down the target for the loss of 4 wickets with 42 balls to spare, clinching the match.

10. 73 – Kings XI Punjab, 2017

In a match played in Pune, the entire Kings XI Punjab team (now Punjab Kings) collapsed for 73 runs while batting first against Rising Pune Supergiant. In this match, Pune chased down the target with ease and registered a 9-wicket victory.
