The PCB has officially made the announcement regarding a major change for the upcoming PSL 2026, where the number of venues has been reduced to merely two, Lahore and Karachi, from the original six.

This has been done in response to the austerity measures imposed by the government to tackle the fuel crisis, which has been triggered by the West Asia situation. As a result, all the matches for the upcoming PSL 2026 will be played behind closed doors.

Matches Distribution Between Lahore and Karachi

Lahore and Karachi will host 22 games each. The first 14 games will be played in Lahore from March 26 to April 6. The event will then be shifted to Karachi to play 15 games. Lahore will host games starting April 21, with some doubleheaders shared with Karachi. Despite the reduction in venues, the PCB has confirmed that no dates for games have been changed and will follow the same schedule.

Opening Match and Key Fixtures

2026 PSL matches begin on March 26 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The PSL will see the reining champions Lahore Qalandars playing against the newly entered Hyderabad Kingsmen in the opening match.

Some major changes to the playoffs

Qualifier (April 28):

The venue for this match will be Karachi, not Rawalpindi.

Eliminators:

These matches will take place in Lahore on April 21 and May 1.

Final Match:

The venue for this match will be Lahore, as planned.

Matches to Be Played Without Crowds:

According to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, public safety and national responsibility must be prioritized. “Having a large crowd and asking everyone to stay indoors would be contradictory.”

In this regard, the following measures will be taken:

  • Matches will be played without crowds for PSL 2026.
  • The opening ceremony will not take place.

Enhanced Broadcast Experience for Fans

In order to replace the lack of live audiences, the PCB has launched a “watch-from-home” concept for PSL 2026.

What fans can expect:

  • Improved broadcast quality
  • Advanced production capabilities
  • Enhanced viewing experience worldwide

The PCB is hopeful that the innovations will ensure PSL 2026 is one of the most viewed seasons of the tournament’s history.
