KKR vs PBKS: Rain forced the cancellation of the 12th game of IPL 2026 in Kolkata. Due to heavy rain, only 1.5 overs were able to take place between Punjab Kings and KKR before the umpire officially called it off.
Despite Rain Forecast, Rahane Wins Toss and Elects to Bat
When Ajinkya Rahane of KKR won the toss he chose to bat quite an interesting decision considering many captains would have gone with a more tactical decision (batting) given the potential for a rain-shortened game.
Narine and Chakravarthy Ruled Out of Playing XI Due to Injuries
KKR had faced a major problem before the commencement of their match. Due to an injury-plagued KKR bowling unit, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy were not available for this match.
Narine was unfit due to illness and Chakravarthy had injured himself whilst attempting to field in KKR’s previous match, and so were replaced by Rovman Powell and the fast bowler Navdeep Saini.
KKR’s Poor Start
KKR endured another poor start as they lost Finn Allen early in their innings. Cameron Green also failed to impact the game at all and continued to be in terrible form. He scored 4 runs off just 2 balls before being dismissed for the second time this year, leaving Green averaging 8 runs through 3 matches.
KKR vs PBKS: Match Abandoned After Rain Delay Exceeds Two Hours
Green was the most costly auction player at the IPL 2026 auctions when he was bought by KKR for an unbelievable amount of Rs 25.2 crore, yet he has not lived up to the franchise’s hopes thus far, having difficulty providing bat runs or bowl runs. KKR appeared to be faltering as a team when rain fell.
They were only able to produce 25 runs at the termination of 3.4 overs and had lost 2 wickets. At that time, their captain Rahane was batting with 8 runs on 6 balls, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi had 7 runs on 7 balls. The game, however, was stopped due to rain.
After waiting for over 2 hours of rain to end, the rainy day finally came to a close. The outfield was too waterlogged to dry (obviously), and as a result, the game was deemed abandoned. Both sides received 1 point each.
