IPL 2026: The Lucknow Super Giants started off with a bang when Mohammed Shami took out Prabhsimran Singh, who had been playing well, on the first ball.
Even though this early wicket could have slowed down the Punjab team from scoring, that wasn’t the case. Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly launched a whirlwind of runs against the LSG bowlers in counter-punch fashion to both score quickly and support each other very well.
Priyansh raced to a rapid 50 runs in only 19 balls and Connolly got to his 50 in 35 balls while both were batting together. Their total partnership was 182 runs, and they dominated the LSG bowlers thoroughly.
After scoring 87 runs, Connolly managed to get out, only to be followed shortly by Priyansh’s dismissal after scoring 93 runs. At this point of the match, the Punjab team were in full control.
The energy dropped somewhat following the dismissal of Shreyas Iyer for just five runs, which led to a minor collapse where Punjab Kings lost three wickets for merely eight runs.
Nonetheless, Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh helped themselves add some scores in the closing overs, as Punjab Kings scored a fine score of 254/7, with Stoinis scoring a rapid 29 off 16 balls.
LSG began their innings on a good note, with Marsh and Badoni helping them to score 61/1 in the powerplay overs. Badoni made 35 runs before getting out, after which Marsh and Pant continued their partnership with Marsh scoring 40 off 28 deliveries, while Pant contributed with a quickfire knock of 43 runs.
At last, Aiden Markram and Mukul Choudhary tried to up their game and reduce the difference in runs, although the target for LSG turned out to be too difficult to chase. As a result, Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for 200/5 in 20 overs.
