The race to the Purple Cap has become very tight, as Prasidh Krishna had only earned 1 wicket in his most recent match against bye, which means that he was unable to regain the top spot. He is currently ranked 2nd overall with a total of 12 wickets taken in six games played.

The current leader for the Purple Cap is Anshul Kamboj of the Chennai Super Kings. He has a total of 13 wickets this season.

The player currently in 3rd place is Prince Yadav who has 11 wickets, and tied at 4th are Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi and Kagiso Rabada with 10 wickets apiece but will determine tie-breaker by comparing the players’ respective economies.

On April 20, against Mumbai, Rabada really made a dent by taking 3/33 and moving up to 6th place on the wickets list.
The Purple Cap goes to the top wicket-taker at each IPL season’s completion. However, the person who wins the Purple Cap tends to change during an IPL tournament due to the variability in players’ performances.
