Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as the biggest young sensation in Indian cricket with his fearless game as he continues to make his mark during the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season, representing Rajasthan Royals.

His aggressive stroke-making skills and consistency have been widely appreciated by many cricketing pundits who want him to be fast-tracked into international cricket. Ex-India head coach Ravi Shastri is among those who believe Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is all set for international cricket.

However, this promising opening batsman has managed to raise his profile even more after playing exceptional games in the ongoing IPL 2026.

Sooryavanshi has become a key batter who can cause problems in the IPL 2026 due to his ability to play aggressively (his game style). So far, he has played 11 games in this competition and scored 440 runs from 236.56 strike rate (number of runs scored per 100 balls played).

He has also hit 40 sixes in the 2026 IPL season; this is the most sixes hit by any player in IPL 2026. Many cricketers around the globe have praised him for his aggressive way he plays & how sure he is when he plays against leading bowlers; indeed, many experts have recommended that he should be included into the Indian T20I squad.

Ravi Shastri Backs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for India Debut

Ravi Shastri had expressed his strong backing for the idea of promoting Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to play for India at the international level. Speaking to Sanjana Ganesan during his appearance on ‘The ICC Review,’ Shastri felt that T20 cricket was the perfect format for introducing the youngster into international cricket.

According to Shastri, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi already looks like a player who can represent multiple international teams because of his confidence and attacking nature.

Furthermore, the former India coach felt that Vaibhav does not fear when it comes to challenging bowlers who are far superior to him.

Ireland Tour Could Be Perfect Opportunity for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

According to Ravi Shastri, the upcoming tour to Ireland, which will take place in June, can prove to be an ideal opportunity to make Vaibhav Sooryavanshi make his international debut.

If he is chosen, then this would make him one of the youngest cricketers ever representing India. According to the veteran, making this young talent play can prepare India for the T20 World Cup in 2028. He said that age should never become a hindrance when players are performing at this level in a big event like the IPL.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Earns India A Call-Up

In addition to this, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already been selected to play for India A for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
