Players That Could Be Released By PBKS Before IPL 2027: The Availability of international players is one of the most significant issues to address in the IPL 2026.
Many franchises were in trouble due to lack of availability from international players due to their national duty and load management. Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) joint owner Mohit Burman recently brought this issue up.
Mohit Burman Calls for Greater Clarity on Player Availability
To talk about the issue, according to Burman, the problem is that IPL franchises need transparency from foreign players regarding their availability in the whole league season.
Due to this it becomes very difficult for franchises to form good teams, he added. Moreover, he also stated that the international cricket schedules are throughout the year, so the players should keep their commitments with their national cricket boards.
However, the IPL franchises who invest in expensive foreign players must be made aware of the same at during the auction itself. He emphasized on the fact that regular unavailability of international players can result in severe issues.
PBKS Owner Suggests Better Coordination Between National Boards and IPL Franchises
It was proposed by the Punjab Kings co-owner that a collaborative strategy needs to be implemented to resolve the issues regarding this.
According to him, the BCCI, franchises, international cricket boards and as well as players, should coordinate and ensure willful commitments before the next IPL season. As per Burman, improved communication and this collaborative effort could prevent such situations from arising in the future.
Punjab Kings’ IPL 2026 Campaign: Strong Start, Disappointing Finish
Punjab Kings had a great start in IPL 2026, they were undefeated for 6 matches making a record at the beginning of the season.
Unfortunately, PBKS faced a sudden downfall after 6 matches and managed to win just one match after that. They lost their chance to qualify in the top 4 as Rajasthan Royals surpassed them by gaining 16 points.
PBKS accumulated 15 points in the group stages.
PBKS finally got a win in their last league game, with the help of skipper Shreyas Iyer hitting an individual IPL century against the Lucknow Super Giants.
This win gave PBKS 14 points and a better run rate than other competitors like KKR and DC. But unfortunately, Rajasthan Royals won their match against Mumbai Indians and got 16 points on the points table leading them straight to the playoffs.
