The Board Cricket Control of India (BCCI) has announced India‘s Squad for the Asian Games 2026. Shreyas Iyer will lead the team while Jasprit Bumrah makes his return into the squad. The event will take place in Japan this year. BCCI has also announced team India’s Squad for Ireland and England for the upcoming series. Iyer took charge of Captaincy while Tilak Verma became vice captain of India. And the most popular teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gets his maiden call to play for India. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah will play Asian Games for the country. In the upcoming series he is given rest by the BCCI.
Will Vaibhav open for India?
BCCI selected Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan as well. A big question arises that Will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi get the chance to play as an opener. Because Abhishek, Ishan and Sanju himself have been in incredible form. So it’s quite tough for him to play as an opener. Also, it will be quite interesting to watch whom management will choose. At which number Vaibhav will bat, let’s see.
Team India for Asian Games
Team for Asian Games is like in the middle order – All rounder Nitish kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar and the Chennai Super Kings powerhouse Shivam Dubey will also play, If we talk about Spin attack then Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakarvarthy and Axar Patel are also in the Squad. Meanwhile the Pacers are Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.
BCCI provides rest to India’s most prominent and experienced bowler Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the ODI World Cup 2027. He has been given rest for the Ireland and England T20I Series. Bumrah is picked for the Asian Games Squad.
