Former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has had his opinion on whether Virat Kohli to be selected in the Indian team for the 2nd and 3rd T20Is against England. The Indian legend feels that Kohli shouldn’t be picked up in the playing XI of India against England in the second and third T20I as he is not in a good touch lately.
Indian team are already leading this 3-match T20I series by 1-0 after they won the first game at Southampton by a huge margin of 50 runs. This was Rohit Sharma’s 13 consecutive wins as Indian captain in T20Is. He (Rohit Sharma) hasn’t lost a single match after becoming India’s full-time captain.
“You can’t just go by reputation, but you have to look for current form. If world No. 2 Test bowler Ashwin can be dropped from Test side then your No. 1 batter can also be dropped,” said Kapil Dev to ABP News.
Virat Kohli along with some players who played in the last rescheduled Test match against England were given some rest before this T20I series. The players namely Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant are back in the squad ahead of the second T20I. As the top order batters performed well in the last game, thus it is possible that Kohli will not be in the playing XI of India in this second T20I.
