On June 18, 2019, during the ICC World Cup match against Afghanistan, Eoin Morgan set a new record for the most sixers ever made with 17. Prior to that, the most recent addition to the list was Rohit Sharma’s outstanding performance against Sri Lanka on December 13, 2017. With 12 sixes, he amassed 208 runs. Being listed twice, once with 16 sixes and once with 12 sixes, he is the only player to do so.

With these outstanding achievements, Sharma elevated himself to the status of one of cricket’s all-time greats. Thisara Perera ranked sixth on the list of players with the most sixes in an ODI inning on January 5, 2019, against New Zealand after he smacked 13 sixes.

Denesh Ramdin vs. Bangladesh – August 2014

Denesh Ramdin, a current West Indian player, is the first to score 11 sixes in an ODI game against Bangladesh on August 25, 2014, in Basseterre, making him the player with the most sixes in a single inning of an ODI match. In the same innings, he also hit 8 boundaries and totaled 169 runs at a strike rate of 139.66 while facing 121 balls.

Rohit Sharma vs. Sri Lanka – December 2017

Rohit Sharma, an Indian player who also hit 12 sixes in a match against Sri Lanka on December 13, 2017, in Mohali, is the only player to appear twice on the list of most sixes in an ODI inning by a player.

He faced 153 balls, hit 13 boundaries, and scored 208 runs overall with a strike rate of 135.94 during the same innings.

Corey Anderson vs. West Indies – January 2014

The current New Zealand player Corey Anderson, who scored an impressive 14 sixes in a match against the West Indies on January 1, 2014, in Queenstown, is ranked fifth on our list of the most sixes a player has ever hit in an ODI inning.

He faced 47 balls in the same innings and hit 6 boundaries in addition to scoring 131 runs overall with a strike rate of 278.72.

Chris Gayle vs. Zimbabwe – February 2015

Chris Gayle, a current West Indian player, is another player to hit the same number of sixes in an ODI inning. On February 24, 2015, in a game against Zimbabwe in Canberra, Gayle hit an incredible 16 sixes in one inning.

In the same innings, he faced 147 balls and hit 10 boundaries in addition to scoring 215 runs overall with a strike rate of 146.25. The most sixes in T20 international cricket were hit by Gayle, one of cricket’s most lethal hard hitters.

Eoin Morgan – 17 Sixes vs. Afghanistan – June 2019

In the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, English batsman and one of the game’s best finishers, Eoin Morgan, did something incredible. On June 18, 2019, during the World Cup match against Afghanistan, he hit 17 sixes. In the process, he surpassed the long-standing mark set by Indian batsman Rohit Sharma.

At Old Trafford Cricket Ground, one of the largest cricket stadiums, Morgan scored 148 runs in that game in just 71 balls, including 17 sixes and 4 boundaries. In addition, he had a blazing-fast strike rate of 208.45 during that match against Afghanistan.
