History

The BCCI’s founding may be traced all the way back to 1926. Two representatives from the Calcutta Cricket Club attended International Cricket Council sessions (formerly known as Imperial Cricket Conference). Following the conference, the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) decided to send a team to India under the leadership of Arthur Gilligan.

Arthur Gilligan made a commitment to work hard to get India accepted into the ICC. This was contingent on the game’s promoters all coming together, though. Additionally, they were prepared to see the institution of a single authority through. Positive responses came from all parties involved, and on November 21, 1927, a meeting was held in Delhi. The gathering included representatives from Delhi, the United Provinces, Patiala, and several other areas.

Following that, a unanimous consensus was achieved, and the formation of a provisional cricket body in India began. Following that, the board was registered under the Tamil Nadu Registration Act in December 1928. R E Grant was elected president, and Anthony De Mello was named secretary.

Role of BCCI

The BCCI’s role is to control and oversee the growth and development of all aspects of Indian cricket. The cricket board’s constitution contains rules and regulations that serve as guidance for the National team. First, the board selects where and with whom the national team will play. Second, it examines the evolution of the national and youth teams. It has authority. State associations work with the BCCI to organise the IPL and other domestic events including as the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Challenger Series. Another function of the BCCI is to give media rights and sponsors. The BCCI is also in charge of all revenue generated by Indian cricket.

The board has had a significant impact in the success of Indian cricket teams. These successes, however, have not been limited to the men’s squad, but also to the women’s and youth teams.

The hard work put in by the board off the field has resulted in the several trophies seen in the Indian Cricket cabinet. The board takes great care of the players and personnel, ensuring that they are in peak condition, which leads to their outstanding success. To summarise, the BCCI is the governing body of Indian cricket. Also, it has an impact on World Cricket.

Membership

The BCCI offers two types of membership. There are both full and associate members. A state cricket association recognised by the BCCI represents their state on the board.

Each state is allowed only one Full Member on the board. There are, however, two exceptions. With three exceptions, three incumbent members from Gujarat and Maharashtra remain full members.

All other existing members who are not Full Members automatically become Associate Members of the BCCI. In addition, the board has the authority to admit any other entity as an Associate Member. These entities shall be subject to all of the criteria and disqualifications outlined in the BCCI’s constitution.

Positions On The Board

At the Annual General Meeting, Full Members choose deserving individuals from among the representatives to fill the following positions:
