Jasprit Bumrah, who took eight wickets in the Perth Test and became the Player of the Match against Australia, once again reached number one on the Test bowling rankings. He replaced Kagiso Rabada, who was on top before this match as the number one Test bowler. Bumrah has gained two places after being at number three. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood, Australia’s fast bowler who was at second, is now at the third position.

Earlier this year, Bumrah had achieved the number one position for the first time during the home Test series against England. He regained that position during the series against Bangladesh in October but slipped to third due to a relatively poor performance against New Zealand.

He performed well to support Bumrah, who took five wickets in the Test at Perth. Mohammad Siraj has gained three slots and is now at No. 25 in the test rankings for bowlers. Apart from Bumrah, two more Indian bowlers, R Ashwin (fourth place), and Ravindra Jadeja (seventh position) are included in the top 10.

On the other hand, England’s Joe Root remains at the number one position in the ranking for batsmen. Though, he is facing tight competition from the young India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, whose score of a brilliant hundred in the Perth Test helped strengthen his position. His total of 161 in the second innings gave Jaiswal a career-best of 825 rating points, leaving him now at only 78 rating points behind Root.

Virat Kohli, who had made his 30th century in the Perth Test, also gained and moved nine places to the 13th position. Travis Head is back in the top 10 after scoring 89 runs and is in 10th position.

Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin, who have been ruled out of the Perth Test, are still the top two all-rounders in Tests. But they may face stiff competition from Bangladesh’s new Test captain Mehdi Hasan Miraz, who has moved three places up in the all-rounders’ rankings by doing well with both the ball and the bat in the Antigua Test against the West Indies and is now in third place.
