Australian allrounder Cameron Green has confirmed he will be fully available to bowl in the IPL 2026, ending the confusion his registration as a batter at this week’s auction had caused. Green said the problem was down to a simple administration error by his manager while filling in the auction forms.

Speaking in the lead-up to Australia’s training session in Adelaide, Green explained that the incorrect listing was an honest mistake and nothing more had no bearing on his fitness or role moving forward.

Manager’s ‘Stuff-Up’ Behind Batter Listing

Cameron Green attributed the mistake to his manager mistakenly ticking the wrong box during the process of registration.

“I’ll be good to bowl. There was a stuff-up on his end he accidentally selected the wrong box,” Green said.

Despite being named as a batter, Green stressed he is fit, cleared and bowling again at international cricket during the ongoing Ashes.

Cameron Green Among Top IPL 2026 Auction Prospects

Cameron Green is reportedly likely to be the costliest player in the IPL 2026 auction that will be held in Abu Dhabi. According to some reports, he may easily breach the record INR 27 crore by Rishabh Pant as the costliest buy in the history of the IPL auction.

Base price: INR 2 crore

Approximate demand: Very high

Favourites to sign him: Kolkata Knight Riders (largest remaining purse)

Green is set to feature among the first six players in the auction list.

Strong IPL Track Record Boosts Green’s Value

Even his good performances in IPL have raised the market value of Cameron Green many folds.

IPL 2023 – Mumbai Indians

452 runs

1 century (unbeaten 100 off 47 balls)

6 wickets

IPL 2024 – Royal Challengers Bengaluru

255 runs

10 wickets

Played 13 matches

Taken out of the team briefly during the 2024 season, Green proved himself as a proper fast-bowling allrounder.

Return From Injury, Allrounder Role Restored

Green missed the IPL 2025 season while recovering from back surgery, then initially returned to international cricket in June as a specialist batter but has since been cleared to bowl and has started being used as a full allrounder by Australia in the Ashes.

This confirmation elevates him substantially in IPL franchises’ eyes, which look for balance and versatility.

Cameron Green to watch IPL auction live

Green confirmed he would be tuning in as the auction unfolds, which takes place just ahead of the third Ashes Test.

“It’s always a little bit of a lottery where you’re going to go, who your teammates are. It’s always fun to watch.”

Connections to Teammates and Future Plans

In his time at RCB, Cameron Green had reportedly developed a very close friendship with England’s Will Jacks. The two are likely to spend time together in Melbourne ahead of the fourth Ashes Test.

Green also played down rumors of a multi-year central deal with Cricket Australia, citing that he likes to focus on the present.
