Both stars have made big names in WWE, but the interesting thing is that CM Punk and AJ Styles have never had a one-on-one match in WWE. However, they did appear in the same ring during the 2025 Royal Rumble.

This Royal Rumble took place on February 01 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Except for that, they have never had a direct match in WWE till now.

They had one singles match before joining WWE

Before coming to WWE, they had one memorable singles match. On December 11, 2004, during an International Wrestling Cartel (IWC) event, they faced each other for the first time. The event was called A Call To Arms 2 and happened in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania.

That night, The Phenomenal One AJ Styles defeated CM Punk. Not just that, during the early 2000s, they faced each other nine times in independent wrestling shows. Most of those matches were singles matches, while two were tag team matches and one was a triple threat match.
