The first inning of the season began with Gujarat Giants stepping up to bat after Bangalore’s captain Smriti Mandhana chose to ball first after winning the toss. Openers Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt walked out to set the game, but the team lost its first wicket very early. Laura Wolvaardt was sent back to the pavilion with just six runs after being caught by Renuka Singh’s brilliant delivery. Dayalan Hemalatha came after Laura Wolvaardt, but her stay at the crease was short-lived as Kanika Ahuja took her wicket for four runs.
Despite the early setbacks, Beth Mooney held the innings, and together with Ashleigh Gardner, started rebuilding Gujarat’s back in the game. Bangalore’s Bowling Efforts to Contain Gujarat
RCBW’s bowling effort, led by Renuka Singh, kept them in the game, but Gujarat’s batting powers proved too strong to handle. Renuka’s early breakthroughs and late dismissals helped the team to recover from the damage a bit, while Kanika Ahuja, Georgia Wareham, and Prema Rawat helped the team with crucial wickets. However, Gujarat’s strong middle-order presence allowed them to set a tough target for Bangalore.
