GT vs CSK: In the exciting match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings held at Ahmedabad where GT secured a huge win of 89 runs, which crushed the hopes of CSK qualifying for the playoffs.

Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Butller’s batting performance led GT to a competitive total of 229 while Siraj, Rabada and Rashid Khan led the bowling attack taking 3 wickets each.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan Power GT to Massive Total

Gujarat Titans started with an aggressive intent the beginning after CSK won the toss and chose to bat first on a red soil pitch.

Shubman Gill played a captain’s knock and scored a rapid 23-ball fifty runs which helped GT to get a great start against CSK capitalizing the powerplay.

Sai Sudharsan on the other end took the responsibility to play the anchor innings of 84 runs in just 53 balls while Jos Buttler helped GT in the middle-overs phase where he played a 57-run knock in just 27 balls.

Due to the exceptional performance by the top 3 batters of GT , they were able to put up a mammoth total of 229 runs.

Early Blow for CSK as Samson Suffers Injury

Unfortunately, there was another injury of a player on the field during beginning of the game. The wicketkeeper-batsman of CSK Sanju Samson got injured while trying to pick up a difficult ball bowled by Spencer Johnson.

Sanju left the ground straight away, while Kartik Sharma replaced him as a keeper. Sanju Samson eventually came back to bat and played only one ball as he was dismissed by a swinging delivery by Mohammed Siraj in the powerplay.

Mohammed Siraj Triggers CSK Batting Collapse

Mohammed Siraj played a significant part in breaking down the batting order of Chennai. After taking a wicket in the very first delivery of the innings of Sanju Samson, Siraj kept it tight with the CSK batsmen to control the runs in the powerplay.

After a few good strokes by Ruturaj Gaikwad in the powerplay, Siraj bowled an inswing delivery to dismiss the skipper of CSK and it hit the stumps right after Ruturaj missed to hit it on the right line and length.

During his impressive spell, Mohammed Siraj also dismissed Urvil Patel, who was looking dangerous as he always with an aggressive intent. In total, by the end of the eighth over, Chennai Super Kings have already suffered a loss of five wickets.

Shivam Dube’s Counterattack Gives Brief Hope

As CSK seemed to be in a hopeless situation, Dube began showed some hope to the fans by hitting some boundaries and sixes. He made 47 runs in just 17 deliveries by hitting boundaries and sixes against Arshad Khan and Jason Holder.

It seemed that Dube might help CSK in a comeback to the chase, but all of that changed when he misjudged his shot against Rashid Khan. Dube was caught at mid-off by Shubman Gill while trying to go for a six.

Rashid Khan Finishes the Job for Gujarat Titans

After Dube left, the CSK’s batting lineup could not resist staying on the pitch as Rashid Khan came in to attack with his googlies and leg-breaks and he picked up three wickets for 18 runs only.

Gujarat Titans ended the CSK’s batting lineup within 14 overs only. This victory gave a boost to the Gujarat Titans on the points table and a significant increase in the net run rate.
