‘I went after the toss and congratulated him,’ Eion Morgan on Prasidh Krishna’s stellar debut
Eion Morgan, talking to media, revealed that he was happy to see Prasidh Krishna break into the Indian setup. The Kolkata Knight Rider captain said that it was great to see debutant do well in the series.
The 25-year-old debutant was called on to play the three match ODI series against England and played phenomenally. It was the first time that Prasidh went on an outing at international level after spending three seasons with KKR.
At a virtual conference, Eion Morgan spoke to the media where he was asked about the pacer and if he ever had a chat with him.
“Yes, I did talk to him. On Prasidh’s debut, I went after the toss and congratulated him. Told him “Today is a special day”. It was great to see Prasidh go out there and represent all of his family and India, and do well on top of that,” Morgan said.
Krishna made a record breaking debut against England, becoming the first bowler to pick up four wickets on ODI debut. He ended up as the third highest wicket taker in the series with six wickets in three games.
When asked about the debut outing, Morgan reflected a little on how important a debut holds in the greater scheme of things.
“For me, debuts are not entirely about the player. They are about the bigger picture, the family, the friends and the journey the plyer has been on for all those years of club cricket, with coaches and within the twon or village that you live. They have all made contributions to get you there, and have made sacrifices of different magnitudes. So, it is a celebration of that achievements, but also the recognition of the start of your new journey,” he explained.
The 34 year-old further commented on both Shubham Gill and Prasidh Krishna, admitting that playing for India deserves a special apprehension keeping in mind the great level of competition taking place.
Eion Morgan, confidently speaks about the duo is in belief that they will hit the ground with great enthusiasm in IPL 2021.
