When it comes to cricket, any player can represent the country to which they have some ties through their family line or birth. A couple of players represented two countries in the world cup during their careers as professional cricketers. Most fans often need clarification about how one player can play for another country even after making their debut for a different nation. If you want to find out more about those players in detail, here in this article, we have covered each player who represented more than one country while participating in world cups.

Kepler Wessels
Kepler Wessels was the first player to represent two countries in the world cup by playing for Australia in 1983 and later for South Africa in 1992. During the early part of his career, he played regularly for the Australian national team, where he performed the role of an all-rounder quite profoundly. However, later during the twilight of his ODI career Kepler Wessels decided to change his nation and represent South Africa in the 1992 world cup, to many people’s surprise. Moreover, he even captained the South African national side, which reached the 1992 world cup semi-finals for the first time in their history.
Anderson Cummins
Anderson Cummins was a player who represented the West Indies for a significant part of his career, from 1991 to 1995. During that time, he participated in one world cup campaign for West Indies, where he mostly played the role of a squad player. However, despite all the limited chances in his international career Anderson Cummins ended up taking 12 wickets for the national team in the 1992 world cup in the most efficient manner possible.
But, even at 40, Anderson Cummins suddenly decided to be a part of the Canadian national cricket team, who participated in their first world cup of 2007. Furthermore, he only became the second person in the history of cricket who represented two countries while being a professional cricketer still playing at the highest level.
Ed Joyce
Ed Joyce is the third player in this list who played for two nations in different world cups. First, in the 2007 world cup, he represented England, but due to other players being preferred over him in the pecking order. Ed Joyce decided to play the remaining years of his cricket for Ireland while also getting a chance to represent them in the 2011 world cup successfully. Ed Joyce earned quite a name for himself while playing for Ireland than he did for England as he helped them put up a commendable fight against those teams who were much better than Ireland in every aspect.
Eoin Morgan
The last cricketer on our list is Eoin Morgan, who represented Ireland in the 2007 world cup. But, later, due to his desire to achieve more success, he instead opted to join the England national team convincingly. Later on, due to his series of impressive performances, he was given the captain’s armband, through which he led the England 2019 world cup team to its first glory on their home soil by beating New Zealand in a tiebreaker. Eoin Morgan is considered one of the most successful and influential cricketers in the history of the England cricket association due to his immediate impact with his match-winning performances regularly.
When you are a professional player willing to change nations for a better career in cricket, you can easily do so if you satisfy some of the criteria. The world cup is one of the biggest stages of a cricketer’s career, where there is always uncertainty about whether they will be able to play another four years down the lane.
