ICC T20 World Cup 2026: The excitement is building as the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 approaches. Co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the tournament is set to take place in the February-March window. With the United Arab Emirates (UAE) grabbing the final qualifying spot, all 20 participating teams are now confirmed.

While the full schedule hasn’t been released yet, it’s already known that Sri Lanka will host all matches featuring both Pakistan and Sri Lanka. With just a few months to go, the stage is almost set for another thrilling global cricket event.

India, the defending champions, will enter their home World Cup with plenty of confidence and a real shot at retaining their title.

UAE Clinch the 20th Spot for ICC T20 World Cup 2026

The UAE has booked its place in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after a solid performance in the Asia-EAP Qualifier tournament held in Al Amerat. They defeated Japan on Thursday to secure the final slot among the 20 teams.

Haider Ali’s impressive bowling figures of 3/20, along with a strong opening partnership between Alishan Sharafu and captain Muhammad Waseem, helped the UAE comfortably chase down Japan’s target of 117 runs.

With this win, the UAE joins Nepal and Oman as the last three teams to qualify for the tournament. They also featured in the previous World Cup, which took place in the USA and the West Indies in 2024.

All 20 Teams Confirmed for the 2026 World Cup

Besides hosts India and Sri Lanka, several other teams have secured their places for the tournament. The top seven sides from the 2024 T20 World Cup-Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the United States, and the West Indies-automatically qualified for the next edition.

New Zealand, Pakistan, and Ireland have earned their spots through the ICC T20I rankings.

From the American region, Canada qualified uncontested, joining the USA and the West Indies, who had already secured their places earlier.

Europe will see a new face this time, with Italy making its debut at the ICC T20 World Cup. The Netherlands will also represent the region after qualifying alongside Italy.

Meanwhile, Namibia and Zimbabwe claimed the top two positions from the African qualifiers, completing the 20-team lineup for the big event.

Full list of teams qualified for the T20 World Cup 2026:

Format: The Return of the Super 8s

The 2026 edition will follow the same format as the 2024 World Cup. The 20 teams will be divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 8 stage.

In the Super 8s, the remaining teams will be split into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group will move on to the semi-finals, and the winners of those matches will meet in the grand final to decide the next ICC T20 World Cup champion.

With a mix of familiar powerhouses and exciting new entrants, the 2026 World Cup promises to deliver high-energy cricket and unforgettable moments across India and Sri Lanka.
