Indian Para-Badminton Duo Clinches Gold; Pramod Bhagat Grabs Silver at Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International 2023
India’s para-badminton athletes shine at the 5th Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International with a gold for Joshi-Murugesan pair and multiple podium finishes, showcasing their prowess in various categories.
At the 5th Fazza Dubai Para-Badminton International 2023, India’s para-badminton stars showcased remarkable performances, with the Manasi Joshi-Thulasimathi Murugesan duo clinching a gold medal in the women’s doubles Sl3-SU5 category. Their victory came after a thrilling match against the Indonesian pair of Leani Ratri Oktila and Khalimatus Sadiyah, securing a 15-21, 21-14 & 21-6 win.
Pramod Bhagat, the Para Asian gold medalist, displayed exceptional skills and determination, securing two silver medals in different categories. However, in the men’s singles SL3 category, Bhagat faced a tough challenge from England’s Daniel Bethell in the finals, ultimately losing with scores of 21-17, 21-18.

Additionally, the mixed doubles SL3 and SU5 category witnessed Bhagat and Manisha Ramdass competing fiercely but falling short against Indonesia’s Hikmat Ramdani and Leani Ratri Oktila, with the final score reading 21-14 and 21-11.
India’s presence in multiple categories was highlighted by Kumar Nitesh and Thulasimathi Murugesan securing a bronze medal in Mixed Doubles SL3 and SU5. Moreover, in the men’s singles SL4 category, Suhas Yathiraj secured silver while Sukant Kadama and Tarun claimed bronze medals. Palak Kohli also secured bronze in the women’s singles SL4 category.
The Men’s doubles Sl3-SL4 category saw Manoj Sarkar and his Korean partner Cho Nadan securing silver, while Kumar Nitesh and Tarun added to India’s medal tally with a bronze medal. The impressive performances across various categories underscore India’s prowess and success at the Fazza Dubai Para-Badminton International 2023.
