Punjab Kings (PBKS) won by 4 wickets, which was enough to jump to second place in the updated IPL 2025 points table in a very important IPL 2025 encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The defeat officially eliminated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from the playoffs, and it ended an extremely disappointing season for the five-time champions.

The result makes Chennai Super Kings the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention for IPL 2025. After this win, Punjab Kings have now achieved seven victories from their ten games, including one rained-out game against Kolkata Knight Riders. Their consistent performance has taken them to the second position in the IPL 2025 points table, keeping them well in contention for playoff qualification.

Match Highlights: Curran’s Heroics in Vain as PBKS Chase Down Target

Even with Sam Curran’s brave innings of 88 runs, PBKS chased down the target with Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer having the standout performances among all of them, both scoring half-centuries. Iyer, who came out to bat in the fifth over, guided the innings with a composed 72 off 40 balls and made sure PBKS knocked off the winning runs with ease.
