IPL 2025: Virat Kohli reached another big milestone on Sunday (April 13) when he scored a half-century in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rajasthan Royals made a strong total of 173 runs for 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a great innings, scoring 75 runs from 47 balls, hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes.
Riyan Parag scored 30 runs, and Dhruv Jurel remained not out with 35 runs, both playing key roles for Rajasthan Royals, the first-ever IPL champions. For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal, Krunal Pandya, and Josh Hazlewood each took one wicket.
Chasing a target of 174 runs, RCB started strongly thanks to Phil Salt’s aggressive batting. The England batter attacked from the beginning, while Virat Kohli supported him well by playing a steady role.
By the end of the powerplay, RCB had scored 65 runs without losing a wicket. Salt reached his half-century in just 28 balls in the eighth over. He and Kohli put together a quick 92-run partnership in less than 9 overs. Their stand ended when Kumar Kartikeya got Salt out for 65.
After Salt got out, Kohli took control and played confidently. He reached his third half-century of the season by hitting Wanindu Hasaranga for a six in the 15th over. Kohli got to his fifty in 39 balls.
Right after reaching his fifty, Kohli made history. He became the first Asian cricketer to score 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket. Only David Warner from Australia has more, with 108 fifties. Pakistan’s Babar Azam is third with 90, followed by Chris Gayle with 88 and Jos Buttler with 86.
