MS Dhoni becomes the first captain to lead a side in 300 T20s
The former India captain will achieve the feat when a takes CSK to the pitch against Kolkata Knight Riders.
MS Dhoni has become the first captain to lead a side in 300 T20 matches. This includes both international matches and domestic matches.
His record in the shortest cricket format is impressive too. He has lead India to two T20 World Cup final matches. Winning one against archrivals Pakistan in 2007 and losing one against Sri Lanka in 2014.
In the domestic format of the game, he has lead Chennai Super Kings from 2008 till the present edition of the IPL.
MS Dhoni has lead Chennai Super Kings creating numerous records with the side. Chennai is the only side in the IPL to reach 12 play-offs ( or semi-finals of early editions) and has reached the final a record 9 times. However, they have only won 3 of the 9 finals, losing 5 times, and one is yet to be decided.
MS Dhoni’s winning rate is also impressive for how long he has captained the side. He captained the Indian team in a total of 72 T20Is, winning 41 of these and losing 28. As the captain of CSK, Dhoni has led the team in yellow in 213 matches, winning 130 and losing 81. He led Rising Pune Supergiants for a solitary season. Pune won 5 and lost 9 under Dhoni’s stewardship
If CSK manages to beat KKR in the final it could be his fourth IPL title and the franchises too. This also potentially could be Dhoni’s last ever professional match.
