Rohit Sharma’s Mission for the 2027 World Cup: Rohit Sharma is on a mission – to be fit, sharp, and ready to lead India in the 2027 World Cup. Critics might say, “He’s 38,” or “He’s not as athletic as the younger players,” or even, “He’s not scoring enough runs.” But the results of the recent fitness test at the BCCI Centre of Excellence tell a very different story.

The Indian skipper, along with a few teammates, underwent the rigorous test, and Rohit Sharma turned in an impressive score, proving he’s in peak physical shape.

After playing his last competitive match in the IPL 2025 back in May, Rohit Sharma is now preparing for a big return to action in October, when India heads to Australia for a three-match ODI series. And he’s leaving no stone unturned, putting in hours of intense training to make sure his comeback is smooth and injury-free.

Leaner, Fitter, and Turning Heads – Rohit Sharma breaks the internet

While the fitness results are impressive, what really caught fans’ attention were the visuals of Rohit returning to Mumbai after the test. The Indian captain looked leaner, fitter, and sharper than ever, a big contrast to the clips that sparked questions about his fitness earlier this year.

Rohit Sharma’s transformation highlights the hard work he’s been putting in with Abhishek Nayar, the former India assistant coach. As he made his way to his car, Mumbai paparazzi showered him with their signature one-liners. While Rohit appreciated the compliments, he made sure to toss a few witty comebacks of his own, giving fans a reason to smile.

That video quickly became the talk of the town, with his new, fitter look stealing the spotlight. Watch the video:

Next Stop: Australia ODIs

Rohit Sharma is set to return to international cricket on October 19, when India plays the first ODI of the series in Perth. The second and third matches are lined up for Adelaide on the 23rd and Sydney on the 25th.

Interestingly, a report in Dainik Jagran last month suggested that this series could be the final ODI appearance for both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from T20Is last year and from Tests just three months ago.

But judging by Rohit’s renewed fitness levels – and Kohli’s intense net sessions at Lord’s – it looks like the two veterans might have very different plans.
